Hurricane Sandy has been devastating for New York City. 38 dead (a number that will no doubt rise), hundreds of thousands still without power. But one of the silver linings, at least for me, was a chance to hear our WNYC colleagues at their finest. This morning, I listened to Brian Lehrer take calls from dozens of cut-off New Yorkers, some of whom were still sitting in dark apartments. Hearing him connect callers to information they desperately needed reminded me that when the s--t hits the fan, sometimes the only internet is the radio.

As for us...with the WNYC building still without power, the Radiolab team is scrambling around Brooklyn, whipping up makeshift studios to get out the next podcast. Look for it to arrive on schedule.
The son of a scientist and a doctor, Jad Abumrad did most of his growing up in Tennessee, before studying creative writing and music composition at Oberlin College in Ohio. Following graduation, Abumrad wrote music for films, and reported and produced documentaries for a variety of local and national public radio programs, including On the Media, PRI's Studio 360 with Kurt Andersen, Morning Edition, All Things Considered, and WNYC's "24 Hours at the Edge of Ground Zero".

For those who have not forgotten the "Fact of the Matter" this again gets at the heart of the issue of Yellow Rain, and what was wrong with the podcast from a third party perspective.
Radiolab has so much to answer for.

Never mind about us - just get the podcast out as and when you can! It won't be the end of the world for us if it's late, and I certainly won't cancel my monthly donation.
