Gee, no one has mentioned the FABULOUS Pilobolus bonus which is also upon us for tonight! I have lived in downtown Philly for nearly 40 years. During one of those earliest years, as I was prowling my new city during lunch hours and evenings before dark, I found myself F2F with a few Pilobolus dancers! I had gone inside Wanamakers just to get a look at that famed store, and just inside of that Market St. entrance up atop the glass and wood product display cases were these Cu-RAZY gymnastic dancers. Shoppers stopped to watch and I joined in doing the same. I only had my short lunch "hour" so I began to pull out something from my brown bag lunch to eat as I watched - but as I was about to do so those dancers began to juggle a ball or a couple of balls.

All of their activity was audience-engaging - but as I recall they spoke nary a word (I had seen them once a few years before at college in Ithaca, where they performed totally in silence with only the staged music or sound recording playing). It was the same in the department store! But people laughed and clapped et al. So I pulled out my Kirby cucumber and apple and attempted to juggle one or both (I have NEVER juggled anything successfully...).

The nearest dancer spotted me almost instantly, and with the 'audience' in support, he reached over toward me with a Please? gesture - - so I tossed one of my fruits to him, then the other, and the two up on the jewelry case began to juggle my lunch! Afterward they returned it to me, but before they left for another promotional spot-performance, a man in a suit approached and told me he was their manager and that they wanted to invite me to that night's show, and to come 'round backstage to meet them a bit more formally afterward.

WHAT AN EXPERIENCE! So I just love those Pilobs and look forward to sneaking a chance to say hello to their current troupe and newest generation of performers, for old times sake!

I am excited! See you in a taxi at half-past eight... oops. At a quarter til eight, I mean!

Love to all!
