(Wo)Men for Mancestor

Wednesday, April 03, 2013 - 05:00 PM

In what has been one of the longest, and perhaps most dramatic, primaries in history -- clocking in at about 66 million years, and kicked off, in part, by an asteroid -- only two candidates remain. With just three days left in the race, Super PAC (Wo)Men for Mancestor have been going door-to-door trying to secure last minute votes for their candidate. The close of the campaign, which some media outlets are calling a "final championship," is just 24 hours away. This Thursday, April 4th, will see either Mancestor or Schrëwdinger crowned the victor.

If you can't see the survey below, you can vote here.

And if you want more details, find out what on earth this election's about.

This is the ancestor of virtually ALL mammals, not just Man. As misdirected, unfocused, obscure, unmemorable and tortured as the "Schrëwdinger" reference is, "Mancestor" should never even have made the starting grid.

Placentor, the grandmammal, forever!

It's 2013. Do we seriously want to continue with anachronistic male-centered nomenclature for this neologism? 'Mancestor' is just a hackneyed and superfluous portmanteau of man and ancestor. Is this the best the hive mind could come up with? And the hive mind that listens to Radiolab no less? Color me disappointed.

This whole voting thing is a sham. Furst is the only acceptable name for the creature. The process has given us a bad result.
